By now most of you know that I am an Anglican Priest. Tonight, after I celebrate the Maundy Thursday Mass we will strip the altar in preparation for Good Friday. This will be carried out as our cantor reads the Twenty-second Psalm. It opens with words familiar to all who know the Passion narrative in the Gospel of Matthew, especially the opening line that Jesus quoted from the cross.
MY God, my God, look upon me; why hast thou forsaken me? * and art so far from my health, and from the words of my complaint?
